How does NeoGen work?

NeoGen converts nitrogen gas into pure nitrogen plasma, which provides a controlled source of thermal energy.

During treatment, carefully controlled pulses of plasma deliver heat to the skin. This stimulates a physiological response within the deeper layers of the skin, encouraging collagen and elastin production and remodelling the dermis.

Unlike treatments that deliberately remove the outer layer of the skin, NeoGen can work while leaving the skin’s surface largely intact. This helps support the natural healing process while stimulating progressive improvements in skin tightness, firmness, texture and overall quality.

Frequently asked questions

Is NeoGen painful?

NeoGen is very well tolerated and can be performed without topical anaesthetic depending on the level of energy delivered. Any level of discomfort varies depending on the area being treated and the treatment settings used. Your practitioner will discuss what you can expect during your consultation and ensure that your treatment is tailored as comfortably and safely as possible.

How many NeoGen treatments will I need?

This depends on your individual skin concerns but usually a course of 3 treatments is recommended approximately every 4-6 weeks. Many patients see a noticeable improvement following one treatment, but a course of treatments is recommended and occasionally further treatments may be recommended depending on individual skin requirements. 

When will I see results?

Some improvements may be visible relatively soon after treatment, but NeoGen’s results continue to develop as the skin produces new collagen and elastin over further months following the final treatment.  Your practitioner will explain the expected timeline during your consultation.

Is there any downtime?

NeoGen is designed to stimulate the skin without creating an open wound. However, the skin can be temporarily pink for 2 – 4 days following treatment and this is dependant on the treatment intensity and area treated.

Your practitioner will explain the expected recovery period for you and provide you with detailed pre treatment and aftercare advice.

Can NeoGen be combined with other treatments?

NeoGen can potentially be combined with other aesthetic treatments as part of a bespoke skin rejuvenation plan. Your practitioner will advise you on the most appropriate combination and treatment sequence for your individual needs.
