Frequently asked questions

What is radio frequency and fractional skin resurfacing and how does it work?
Radio frequency is an advanced technology that safely heats the collagen in the skin, causing it to contract and tighten.  This achieves immediate results.  However, it also stimulates the production of new collagen which helps to create smoother, younger looking skin for up to a year after treatment.

Fractional skin resurfacing uses the same radio frequency technology but with the addition of skin tissue removal so that new tissue can be formed. When this is done fractionally it means that specific small areas are removed/ablated in a regular pattern across the treatment area minimising the overall damage and encouraging the response to spread across the non-ablated areas.

EndyMed™ 3DEEP is suitable for all skin tones and types.

What should I expect during the treatment?
During a skin tightening procedure the deep skin layers are gradually heated, while the surface of the skin remains around 40˚C (hot shower temperature).  The skin tightening treatment is entirely safe and pain free and your skin temperature will be constantly monitored throughout.

Prior to an FSR treatment an anaesthetic cream would be applied to the areas to be treated enabling the treatment to be comfortable.

Dependent on the size of the area being treated, both procedures will normally last between 30-45 minutes.

Are there any side-effects?
No.  However, you may notice slight redness around the treatment area after having a skin tightening treatment. This usually disappears after a couple of hours. After an FSR treatment the area may be quite red with some white patches but this should settle by the next day.
How long do the results last?
Results typically last around a year.  We normally recommend a course of six treatments for skin tightening and a course of three treatments for FSR and the effects will be cumulative, as new collagen continues to be produced.
